Blue Squares
We lay there and looked up at the night sky and she told me about stars called blue squares and red swirls and I told her I'd never heard of them. Of course not, she said, the really important stuff they never tell you. You have to imagine it on your own. Item #SPP1
Center On Wheels
I spent a long time trying to find my center until I looked closely one night and found it had wheels and moved easily in the slightest breeze, so now I spend less time sitting and more time sailing. Item #SPP2
Believing My Father
I used to believe my father about everything but then I had children myself and now I see how much stuff you make up just to keep yourself from going crazy. Item #SPP3
BitterSweet
She said she usually cried at least once each day not because she was sad, but because the world was so beautiful and life was so short. Item #SPP4
Chihuahua
I remember once I went to my great-grandmother's house. It was a big white house & it always smelled like slightly burned toast & raspberry jam. She had a picture of Jesus on the wall in her living room. She told me his eyes would follow you around when you walked. I told a friend about it a while ago. He nodded & said he used to have a Chihuahua that did the same thing. Item #SPP5
Dancing Mailman
Our mailman was a dance teacher at night & I would watch him sometimes to see if he would deliver mail differently than the others. I expected to see him leap over bushes with his toes pointing like arrows, but all he ever did was walk. Item #SPP6
His Laughter
The first time his laughter unfurled its wings in the wind, we knew the world would never be the same. Item #SPP7
Laughter and Noise
There are lives I can imagine without children but none of them have the same laughter and noise. Item #SPP8
